Privacy policy
Helpful Daily Apps runs no servers and holds no user accounts. We cannot see your name, your email address or what you studied, because none of it is sent to us.
This policy explains how Helpful Daily Apps ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects information in connection with our mobile applications (each, the "App") and any related services (together, the "Services"). It covers every app listed on this site; where an app differs, the difference is called out by name.
By downloading, accessing or using an App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the App.
1. What we collect
Information you give us directly
There is no account, no sign-in and no registration form, so there is nothing you are asked to provide. If you email us, we receive what you choose to put in that email — typically your address and whatever you tell us about the problem — and we keep it only as long as it takes to deal with your message.
Information collected automatically
We operate no servers, so nothing is collected by us. Two Google services built into the App collect a limited amount of technical data:
- Crash diagnostics. Released versions include Google Crashlytics. When an App crashes, Google receives the stack trace, your device model, operating system version, App version, and a random identifier Crashlytics generates for that installation. It does not include your name, email address, contacts or lesson content. Test builds we run during development have crash reporting switched off.
- Purchase status. Purchases go through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and holds the payment details; we never see your card, bank details or billing address. The App asks Google whether the device holds an active entitlement and stores the answer locally so it knows what to unlock.
There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no advertising identifier. Which lessons you open, how long you study and how you answer questions are recorded on your device and stay there.
What stays on your device
Your progress, review schedule, quiz history and downloaded lesson content are stored in the App's own storage on your phone or tablet. They are not uploaded, not synced between devices, and not visible to us. Uninstalling the App deletes them.
2. Spoken lessons and your device's speech engine
Apps that read text aloud pass that text to whichever text-to-speech engine you have selected in your device settings. Some engines run entirely on the device; some send text to their provider's servers to synthesise speech. Which applies is a property of the engine you chose, not of our App, and the text passed to it is lesson content — never anything you have typed. Your device's speech settings control this.
3. App permissions
Our Apps request only the permissions below. Declining one limits the related feature and nothing else.
| Permission | Why we request it |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Study reminders, and the playback controls shown while a lesson is playing. You can turn these off in your device settings at any time. |
| Foreground service (media playback) | Keeps audio playing when the screen is off or you switch to another app. It is what makes a lesson keep running in your pocket. |
We do not request the microphone, SMS or messages, contacts, camera, location, or access to your files.
4. Sensitive personal information
Some categories of data are treated as "sensitive personal information" under US state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. We collect none of them.
Specifically, our Apps do not collect or process: payment card or financial account information (Google Play handles payment, and we never receive it); account login credentials (there are no accounts); biometric identifiers; precise geolocation; health or medical records about you personally; genetic data; racial or ethnic origin; religious beliefs; union membership; or immigration status.
Where an App's educational content covers disease processes, that is course content — academic subject matter — and not health data collected about you as a user.
5. How we use what little we have
- To find and fix crashes, from the diagnostics described in section 1.
- To unlock the content you have paid for, from the entitlement status Google reports.
- To answer you, if you have written to us.
We do not build profiles, and we do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects — there is no profiling of academic standing, study ability or eligibility for anything.
6. When and with whom we share information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months and do not intend to.
We may disclose information in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers acting on our behalf. In practice this means Google, for crash reporting and for payment through Play Billing.
- Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- Legal compliance — where required by a subpoena, court order or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or the public.
- With your consent, for anything else disclosed at the time.
7. Third-party services and Google API data
Our Apps use Google Play Billing and Google Crashlytics, which independently collect the limited technical data described in section 1 under Google's own privacy terms. We have no other processors: no analytics provider, no advertising network, no customer-support platform, no cloud hosting of user data.
Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
There is no third-party sign-in. We never receive a Google, Apple or social account profile, because our Apps never ask you to sign in to one.
8. Data retention
We hold no accounts and no user database, so there is nothing on our side to retain. Crash reports sit with Google under its own retention policy and are deleted on that schedule. Anything you send us by email is kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry. Everything else lives on your device for exactly as long as the App is installed.
9. How we keep information safe
The data described in section 1 is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) by the Google services that collect it, and downloaded lesson content is stored encrypted on your device. Because there is no account, there is no password of ours to steal and no server of ours to breach. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; keeping your device locked is the most useful thing you can do.
10. Children's privacy
Our Apps are built for adult learners and students in professional training. They are intended for users aged 18 and over and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, nor do we knowingly sell such information. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a user under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us information, write to support@helpfuldailyapps.com.
11. App by app
| App | Leaves the device | Stays on the device |
|---|---|---|
| A&P Aloud | Crash diagnostics (release builds only), through Google Crashlytics; Purchase and subscription status, through Google Play Billing | Your lesson progress, review schedule and quiz history; Downloaded lesson content |
12. Your privacy rights (US state laws)
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah or Virginia, state privacy law may give you some or all of the following rights, subject to certain exceptions:
- Right to know or access what personal information we hold about you and how it is processed
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information
- Right to delete personal information collected from you
- Right to obtain a copy of what you have provided, in a portable format
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising — we do none of these
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we collect none
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
- Where applicable (for example CT, MN, OR, DE, MD): the right to a list of the categories or specific third parties we have shared data with, and rights around automated profiling
Because we hold no account and no profile, most of these resolve on your own device: uninstalling an App erases everything it stored, immediately and completely. Section 14 covers the rest.

13. Do-Not-Track signals
Some browsers and mobile settings offer a Do-Not-Track signal. No uniform industry standard for recognising and responding to one currently exists, so we do not respond to them. We do not track you across sites or apps in any case. If a legal standard is adopted, we will update this policy.
14. International users
Our Apps are operated from the United States. If you use an App from outside the US, the limited technical data described in section 1 will be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your home country. By using the App, you consent to that transfer.
15. How to exercise your rights, and appeals
Email support@helpfuldailyapps.com with your request. Because there is no account, we usually cannot connect a request to a particular person from our records — and the honest answer to "what do you hold about me" is generally "nothing". For crash diagnostics specifically, we have no way to locate reports tied to a single installation unless you can supply Crashlytics' own identifier for it; without one, we generally cannot act on a deletion request for a specific crash report.
You may designate an authorised agent to submit a request for you; we may require proof of that authorisation.
If we decline to act on your request, you may appeal by emailing the same address with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line. We will respond in writing with the outcome and our reasoning. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General's office.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and material changes — particularly any change to what leaves your device — will also be noted in the App's release notes.
